Ming The Merciless - Cat Burglar

The cherry thief

My name is Ming and they call me 'The Merciless'. I'm a very hyperactive cat and they tell me I'm tiring to be around! I think the others here are just lazy balls of fur and need livening up. I have a wonderful range of bloodcurdling howls that I love to use in the middle of the night, howling at the moon. This doesn't go down well either, particularly with the humans in the house.

I am a cat burglar. It's a demanding skill and not many have got what it takes to be a good one. You need stealth and speed to be successful and I have both. My favourite hunting grounds are tables where humans leave all sorts of interesting things lying around, pens, lighters, brushes, rulers, string, rubber bands, keys and of course food. Pretty much anything you can pick up in your mouth can be carried off to your lair to give you hours of fun playing with it and chewing it. Open bags are good too. Watch out for visitors who open a handbag or rucksack, it's too good an opportunity to pass up.

Another fine spot is the waste disposal. All sorts of things go down here and you can add a twist to your fun by putting things down it instead of taking things out of it. Try a teaspoon and see what happens when the humans switch it on. I did!

It's such good fun to watch the humans frantically searching for a missing pen or wondering where on earth they left their lighter or their keys! But one of my favourite things to steal are cherries! They are wonderful to play with. After all, playing football with the usual toys is simply no fun. Cherries make a much more interesting ball to bat around. Sadly this is much harder to do these days as the humans have learned to put them in a sealed container. I think this might have been the time I emptied a whole bowl full of them one night and left them all over the house. There was a lot of swearing the next morning as the humans hunted down all the cherries. Honestly, I can't see what the fuss was all about. But I can highly recommend thievery as an entertaining pastime.
